Abhishek Khare, an Oxford-educated advocate with a career spanning over 23 years, has built a distinguished practice in corporate and commercial law, with extensive involvement in arbitration and dispute resolution across sectors such as energy, infrastructure, maritime, and competition law. Known for his analytical acumen and strategic foresight, Abhishek has successfully represented clients in high-stakes arbitrations, both domestic and international, including multi-million-dollar claims and disputes involving some of the largest corporations in the energy and infrastructure sectors.

As an Advocate on Record with the Supreme Court of India since 2015, Abhishek brings a nuanced understanding of India’s regulatory landscape. His experience includes serving as the former Standing Counsel for the State of Uttar Pradesh and representing government and private clients in complex matters before the highest courts. His expertise extends to regulatory compliance, tariff issues, project finance, and EPC contracts, where he has advised companies on both conventional and non-conventional energy projects. Notably, he played a critical role as lead counsel in Maharashtra’s first Waste to Energy project and advised on a landmark 7 GW solar project under the PM KUSUM Scheme.

Abhishek’s practice reflects his deep commitment to advancing legal protections in emerging areas of law, including data protection and privacy, competition law, and white-collar crime. He has also been involved in the formulation of significant legislative measures, such as drafting the Prevention of Doctors Assault Bill, currently under review by India’s Parliamentary Committee. His contributions have earned him industry-wide recognition, including accolades from Legal Era as a “40 under 40 Rising Star” and a feature as a “Young Turk” in Economic Times.

On the advisory panels for entities like SEBI, MSEDCL, and the Competition Commission of India, Abhishek provides strategic legal counsel to some of India’s largest public and private sector organizations. His work has shaped regulatory policies and practices in sectors ranging from banking to telecommunications, with a focus on promoting fair competition and regulatory transparency. Additionally, his insights into maritime law have led to successful resolutions in admiralty cases, including the arrest and sale of vessels for claims, and addressing seafarers’ rights and welfare.

Abhishek’s extensive knowledge is matched by his commitment to academia and thought leadership. He has conducted workshops and seminars on arbitration, competition law, and corporate governance, sharing his insights with the next generation of legal professionals at institutions such as ILS Law College and professional forums with ICAI and ICSI. Through his academic contributions and practical experience, Abhishek continues to influence India’s evolving legal landscape, championing integrity, innovation, and excellence in the practice of law.
